love photographing kitesurfing because no two sessions ever feel the same.

You can have an idea of what you want to capture, but the wind, the light, the waves and the rider will always change the plan. Sometimes the best shot happens in a second, and if you miss it, it’s gone.

That’s probably what I enjoy most about it. You have to stay focused, react quickly and trust your instinct.

I’m not only looking for the biggest jump or the perfect trick. I like the moments around it too — the concentration before a run, the spray, the speed, the wipeouts, the expression after landing something difficult.

There is also something very real about photographing people doing something they genuinely love. They’re not thinking about the camera. They’re just in the moment.

And for me, that makes the photographs much more interesting.
