The World Became Home

I left my home country more than 14 years ago and haven’t been back since. Since then, I’ve travelled through more than 40 countries, and somewhere along the way travel became much more than just moving from one place to another.

It became the way I understand the world.

I love arriving somewhere I know nothing about, getting past the first impressions, the stereotypes and the stories you hear before you go. I want to see places for myself, meet the people who actually live there and notice the things that never make it into guidebooks.

That’s also why I photograph so much when I travel. I don’t want to only remember where I’ve been. I want to keep something real from it — the atmosphere, the people, the small details, the moments that would otherwise disappear.

After so many years away from home, I think travelling has become my way of feeling at home in the world.
